ProFS based near Rozel in Jersey (and Guernsey/UK/Switzerland) – a pick’n'pack fulfilment solution – a strategic logistics partner – offering warehouse and distribution services. That’s how Michael explained it to me … I thought it best to go and see for myself … not because I didn’t understand (?) but just so I could get a feel for what actually happens in a place like that – and therefore what would be best to photograph. It’s a long story but we needed to get a couple of shots to accompany a 3rd Party press release into trade publications.

This tickled me – Tim and Helen had a portrait shoot before Christmas with their lovely dog Moby. I just had a note from Tim by email …. “People are still commenting on how good our photo’s are. One even won a prize at a local “ladies club” in Kidderminster. I think it was just my Mum being embarrassing and showing off pictures of Helen, Moby & me! Hee hee. However, she had the best photo there on the day, so she won a professionally made frame for it.”
I wonder which one it was
Perhaps this one.
Richard shoots professional portraits in his Newmarket, Suffolk based photography studio. If you are interested in something similar drop me an email. By the way I also shoot weddings, events and corporate photographs.

Well done to everyone who entered and especially well done to all the winners.
We had a good night at Bedford Lodge, Newmarket on Friday. I’m guessing some of the girls went on to have a legendary night with much champagne cork popping going on.
Here’s a small selection of the pictures that can be viewed and purchased in the public gallery.

I enjoyed working with the Stetchworth Panto crew on this years production of Little Red Riding Hood (oh yes I did). Tickets not still available. In fact it sold out in a matter of hours I’m told. This is the third year on the trot – a lot of fun every time. Everything was shot without flash – pushing the technology a little but the results are very pleasing.
And I’m off to enjoy the panto with my wife and kids tonight (well except the 8 month old who’s a little small still

I was invited by Rossdales and Partners (eminent equine vet practice in Newmarket) to photograph a record of their 50th Anniversary celebrations at the Jockey Club in Newmarket (a great venue for social functions and a great wedding venue). The brief was to capture a sense of occasion and also to photograph some very important large group shots of all the existing partners and founding partners of this long established vet practice. Thanks to Sidney for the chance to work with you on such an important evening and Marcus for your ‘help’.

A testing commercial/PR photography shoot in Kings Road, Chelsea. A 10am start photographing a handful of emminent Greek journalists being hosted by Herbal Essence’s ambassador for the UK, Ben Cooke, at his Professional A-list London salon Lockonego. The beauty journalists were enjoying a pamper day on their short trip to the UK which coincided with the British Hair Dressing Awards earlier in the week.

Thanks Tim and Helen for a fun shoot in the leaves. And Moby the dog did surprisingly well given he’d just has his jabs. Helen and Tim wanted some warm, relaxed pictures – some for Mum for Christmas and some for themselves. We took far too many pictures of the dog

Most enjoyable portrait shoot at home with Eva & Freya over near Ipswich, Suffolk. This was a surprise gift for Mum and Dad (Liz and Graham) who have since found out of course – you can’t trust a four year old and a one year old not to mention that they spent the morning with a photographer
Thanks to Philippa who organised the shoot and was a sterling assistant.

One of the challenges of being a professional photographer is being asked to shoot Press and PR shots for large corporates. Sometimes the material isn’t the most ‘interesting’ and the backdrops and surroundings a little bland. This doesn’t make for interesting photographs normally. So as a photographer you need to use your creativity and work with what you’ve got – ask yourself what available light do I have – how can I make the most of the environment I am in – is there some way I can bounce light off the walls, ceilings, reflectors.

One of the challenges of commercial photography is making inanimate objects look interesting, I’ve just finished a series of shoots over a few months with an engineering firm based in Mildenhall in Suffolk. They produce accurately machined compenents for audio, munitions and electrical engineering manufacturers.
