Sometimes I write about what I do when I do it.

PBS Golf Day

pbsgolf 064

Another hot hot day shooting the 25th Anniversary PBS Golf Day at La Moye Golf Club. I was delighted to be invited to work with Tony and his team at their very special event. Congratulations to the winners, and well done to all those who were entering into the spirit of the post golf 19th hole activity even though the dinner started at 2pm. Here’s a selection of images that captures some of the fun of the day.

Press Shots – Director

mb 043

Michael from ProFS had me back to capture some appropriate head shots for various upcoming marketing communications pieces in a number of business publications in the Channel Islands. (specifically the first one was Business Brief). The brief was something just a little bit different. Michael is a creative chap in his own right and we’d had a look at some of their ‘little bit different’ marketing campaigns when I was in last time. Looking at how a company portrays itself through it’s own marketing communications (adverts/trade publications etc) can really help me to develop an understanding of their imagery needs.

Press Release Images

ProFS based near Rozel in Jersey (and Guernsey/UK/Switzerland) – a pick’n'pack fulfilment solution – a strategic logistics partner – offering warehouse and distribution services. That’s how Michael explained it to me … I thought it best to go and see for myself … not because I didn’t understand (?) but just so I could get a feel for what actually happens in a place like that – and therefore what would be best to photograph. It’s a long story but we needed to get a couple of shots to accompany a 3rd Party press release into trade publications.

JT Golf Day

jt golf_529

A delightful start to the golfing year with the Jersey Telecom Annual Golf Day. La Moye Golf Club is the most fantastic venue – it’s the first time of photographed there – and my my. There are some simply fantastic vistas around that course. And on a bright, clear and warm (oh my word  it was warm) day I was absolutely spoilt for choice. I have to say some of the golf wasn’t that pretty – but what a great atmosphere around the course and in the club house. It was great fun to work with Tim Ringsdore and his team and it looked like everyone was having a lot of fun on the course, and in the clubhouse afterwards. Only wish I could have joined in the fun – though I have to say I did enjoy one large refreshing lager to quench the thirst, whilst I prepared the presentations to play on the large screens before and during dinner.

Portrait Photo wins a prize (not a Pullitzer though)

h&t&m48

This tickled me – Tim and Helen had a portrait shoot before Christmas with their lovely dog Moby. I just had a note from Tim by email …. “People are still commenting on how good our photo’s are. One even won a prize at a local “ladies club” in Kidderminster. I think it was just my Mum being embarrassing and showing off pictures of Helen, Moby & me! Hee hee. However, she had the best photo there on the day, so she won a professionally made frame for it.”

I wonder which one it was :-) Perhaps this one.

Richard shoots professional portraits in his Newmarket, Suffolk based photography studio. If you are interested in something similar drop me an email. By the way I also shoot weddings, events and corporate photographs.

Business Feature in the Cambridge News. Am I famous?

One of my kids asked me the other day – ‘Are you a little bit famous daddy?’ I asked what do you mean – ‘Well everybody seems to know who you are and you have appeared in some magazines and stuff haven’t you?’

Bless them. Here’s an article from a couple of weeks ago from the Business Section of the Cambridge News. A day in the life of a jobbing photographer.

Counter Skills Awards Dinner Photos

CSA 215

Well done to everyone who entered and especially well done to all the winners.
We had a good night at Bedford Lodge, Newmarket on Friday. I’m guessing some of the girls went on to have a legendary night with much champagne cork popping going on.

Here’s a small selection of the pictures that can be viewed and purchased in the public gallery.

Oh no it’s not! Fun panto pics

panto 0320

I enjoyed working with the Stetchworth Panto crew on this years production of Little Red Riding Hood (oh yes I did). Tickets not still available. In fact it sold out in a matter of hours I’m told. This is the third year on the trot – a lot of fun every time. Everything was shot without flash – pushing the technology a little but the results are very pleasing.

And I’m off to enjoy the panto with my wife and kids tonight (well except the 8 month old who’s a little small still :-)

Jockey Club Event Photographs

rossdales 150

I was invited by Rossdales and Partners (eminent equine vet practice in Newmarket) to photograph a record of their 50th Anniversary celebrations at the Jockey Club in Newmarket (a great venue for social functions and a great wedding venue). The brief was to capture a sense of occasion and also to photograph some very important large group shots of all the existing partners and founding partners of this long established vet practice. Thanks to Sidney for the chance to work with you on such an important evening and Marcus for your ‘help’.
